2023/24

During the next 12 months we will commercially roll out our AI enabled person overboard detection system, known as ZOE, which has been co-developed with the US Coastguard. We will launch the world’s first unmanned search and rescue vessel, known as the Guardian. We will also grow sales of our award-winning Swift rescue conveyor.

Job Description:

We are offering a unique opportunity for a Machine Learning Intern who is currently pursuing or has recently completed an MSc or PhD where they gained experience working with neural networks. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to apply their expertise in neural networks to real-world challenges and see their work being used in a real environment. As an intern you will work on speculative projects aimed at exploring new business opportunities and applications of our technology while supporting our core ML team’s ongoing projects. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model Training: Use open datasets to train ML neural networks for computer vision applications.
  • Model Evaluation: Evaluate the outputs of your models and regularly report your progress to the ML manager and the wider team.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an MSc or PhD program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on machine learning/neural networks.
  • Experience with computer vision is preferred.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of machine learning principles and neural network architectures.
  • Experience with ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Ability to work independently on research and development projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity in applying ML techniques.
  • Communication skills to allow you to present your work to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
